Open your school in 24 hours.
Five steps. Tested with real schools. From the moment you sign up to the moment your first parent reads a notification on their phone.
Step one
01. Open your school in 3 minutes#
The signup wizard takes one form. Email, school name, country, academic-year start. That's it. Behind the scenes, YESS provisions your tenant database — 16 default roles, your grading system, the current academic year, term boundaries, the kente palette as the default brand.
When you land on the dashboard, every module is already wired. You just don't have any data in yet — that's the next four steps.
Step two
02. Invite your first staff#
Go to Staff → Invite. Paste a list of emails, pick a role for each, optionally assign a campus. Each invitee gets a magic link — they click, they set a password, they're in.
Roles map to permission sets. A principal sees what a principal sees. A bursar sees finance and HR but not academic settings. Permissions can be customised later — start with the defaults.
Step three
03. Import your students from Excel#
Download the template. Drop in your roster: name, parents, contact, class. Upload. The import wizard validates each row, highlights duplicates, lets you fix in place, then commits. Sibling links are inferred from shared parent emails.
Most schools complete this in 15 minutes. Larger rosters (2000+ students) take about 45 minutes including review.
Step four
04. Set your grading system#
Open Settings → Grading systems. Pick a scale: 0-20 (GCE / Bac), 0-100, 1-7 (IB), A-F, or build your own. Define the boundaries — what's a Distinction, what's a Pass, what's a Fail. Assign each programme to its grading system.
Multi-system schools (GCE + IB under one roof) configure both here. The gradebook surfaces the right one per class automatically; the teacher never sees the mapping logic.
Step five
05. Brand it#
Upload your school logo, pick your primary and secondary colours, set your motto. YESS theming flows from these three values — every PDF report card, every parent notification, every page header carries your identity.
The pillar palette — green, gold, navy, purple — is the YESS spine. Your colours run alongside it. The effect: YESS feels like your school, not like a generic SaaS tenant.
Step six
06. You're live#
Your dashboard shows the modules you've turned on. Today's attendance, this term's grades to enter, this week's fees, parent messages waiting. The school is in your hand.
From here, dive into the modules.
